  • Homelessness Prevention

Our Goal

United Way of Western Maine (UWWM) supports community programs that provide food and shelter during times of crisis while also addressing the root causes of homelessness. We work with local partners to ensure individuals and families have access to basic needs and the services necessary to achieve stability and security.

  • Food and Shelter Programs that respond to immediate needs

  • Homelessness Prevention and Housing Stability Programs that help individuals and families avoid or exit homelessness

Outcomes

  • Homelessness is reduced through coordinated prevention services, emergency shelter, transitional living programs, outreach, and access to housing for individuals and families with low or no income

  • Basic living needs — including food, clothing, and essential household goods — are accessible to those who need them most
